EMG Mark VIII Deluxe C.1928
Davey introduced a lid to reduce the noise from the needle on the record. Combined with David Phillips new E.M.G soundbox design which utilized the patented Meltrope back with its compressible rubber seal and a new stylus bar bridge allowing the soundbox to be “tuned” to play different types of records and also “tuned” to use steel, bamboo and thorn needles. The overall effect was to create one of the best gramophones of its time. This one has been upgraded to an electric motor, Garrard A.C. 4 from 1933 and a light in the lid.
