E.M.G Timelines

Details taken from Frank’s definitive book “The EMG Story”. The numbers are based on a letter from Balfour Davey in 1962. There are no exact production numbers and it's not known when the last acoustic gramophones were still being made.
Production during the war years ground to a halt due to the lack of materials. It was not until July 1947 that the E.M.G Mk IX and Mk Xb were being advertised and offered again; "within two months of order". In February 1948, the two models were being sold off as "Reconditioned Gramophones....free of purchase tax". E.M.G moved out of Grape St in April 1948. The acoustic range was not advertised again at their new address in Newman St. Although, Graham Ranking says, "The only definite proof of post war manufacture I have is my Mk IX---the newspapers in the horn are dated 8th July 1948."
